Sausalito
Sausalito is a small town directly across from the San Francisco Peninsula, on the other side of the bay. Find out how to get there!
Sausalito is characterized by its fishing port and its typical floating houses, of which there are over 400 throughout the coastal region.
This area is the chosen residence for celebrities and the upper classes who prefer to distance themselves from the large crowds in the city.
Sausalito is also an interesting place to take pictures of San Francisco or the island of Alcatraz.
How to Get to Sausalito
Besides booking a tour, you can get to Sausalito by car, ferry, or bicycle.
If you feel strong and energetic enough, you can choose to rent a bicycle in Fisherman's Wharf (for less than US$ 30 per day, or free with the Go San Francisco Card) and cover the 8 miles to Sausalito. On the way, you'll cross the Golden Gate Bridge and pass several interesting places to take pictures.
When returning to San Francisco, the most common option is to use the ferry, and many companies include the ticket with the price of renting a bike.
