Why Visit Filoli Garden?
In Filoli Garden, you can explore a lush oasis in the Californian town of Woodside, to the south of San Francisco. As well as abundant gardens, you can also visit its historic country house, which dates back to the 20th century.
Did you know that the name comes from an acronym from the letters of the motto of the first owner of the garden? All the following owners thought that Filoli was a place too beautiful to be kept private. Therefore, in 1875, the doors were officially opened to the public.
Stroll around these English-style gardens and be transported to a fairytale land. You'll admire each flower up close and discover the different areas of the garden to the south of Crystal Springs Lake. In total, the garden is home to 250 fruit trees and each year over 75,000 spring bulbs are planted. We promise you'll fall in love with the place!
Depending on the season you visit, there will be a variety of flowers in bloom. Here are a list of some of the most popular flowers and the best seasons to see them:
- Between March and June: irises, peonies, daffodils and tulips
- July to October: fruit trees and Hydrangeas
- April to October: roses
